The Martin Luther King Jr Speech contest is quickly approaching and we would love to see your student participate. Students have the opportunity to memorize and perform a Martin Luther King, Jr. speech for several judges in the East Layton Elementary library on Oct. 15 at 3:30p. Spectators are welcome.
The top performing students (one will be chosen from the following categories: K-2, 3-4 and 5-6th) go on to represent East Layton Elementary at the District level on Nov. 11-12. There are cash prizes for the district winner and runner up.
Speeches must be at least one minute long and no more than three minutes of a MEMORIZED excerpt from one of Dr. MLK's historic speeches.
There will be an opportunity for students to practice their speech in the gym with Ms. Fresques on Oct. 10 from 3:30p to 4p.
Below please see the flyer for the contest and practice dates, along with the practice sheet. You can also find these flyers under Menu>Student Resources>Clubs & Activities School Activities>Martin Luther King Jr. Speech Contest.
