If you'd like to volunteer in your student's classroom or go on their field trip with them this year, background checks are mandatory. To get that taken care of, please visit the DSD Home page>Menu>Departments>Human Resources>Volunteer Background Checks.
Parents, just a reminder that ID is mandatory to enter the school and for checking your student OUT. This is to help keep the school secure and your students safe!
If your student needs to check IN, a parent is not required and the student can check themselves into the office.
If your student wants a new house shirt or a house hoodie or sweatshirt, please go to Menu> Parent Resources>RCA Houses to order one. This first batch of shirts needs to be ordered by Aug. 30 and they will be shipped to the school, where we will distribute them to your student.

Our Fall Carnival is right around the corner! Mark your calendar for Sep. 27th from 5pm to 8pm. Parents, plan ahead! You can visit myDSD to pre-order yearbooks for the '24-'25 school year. Right now they are $15. Prices will increase later this year, so purchase now to save some money.
Be on the look out for Chess Club and Book Club informational flyers. Under Parent Resources you should see a Clubs &Activities option. The links will be updated as we have information, but we already have the flyers for Chess & Book Clubs up. They will be updated as the weeks go on so check back often.
School is back in session! Today and tomorrow are early out days, so we will be dismissing students at 1:30pm each day.
If your student has outgrown their House shirt from last year, please go to Menu> Parent Resources>RCA Houses to order a new one. You can also purchase sweatshirts and hoodies from the website.
ATTN KINDER PARENTS! On the first day of school, you are welcome to bring your kindergartener into their new classroom for the first 10-15 minutes after school starts to help your new student feel comfortable.
Tonight from 4pm to 6pm we have Back To School Night in the gym! Bring your child to meet their teacher, donate classroom supplies, and find out who else is in your student's class. School merch will be available for purchase from the PTO and food trucks will be on-site so you can grab a bite to eat.
Teacher wish lists are up! To find out what supplies are needed in your child's classroom this year, go to Menu and find Classroom Wish Lists under Parent Resources. If you don't see your child's wish list yet, keep checking. It will be updated regularly.
ATTN KINDER PARENTS! Come to back to school night on August 12th from 4pm to 6pm and you will get ALL the information you need before school starts on the 15th. Also, if you came in late this summer to register your student, you can find out at Back to School Night. Hope to see you there!
Don't forget to check our school website for class supply lists and donations. Click on Menu and it will be the first option under Parent Resources. If your students' grade wish list is not listed, be sure to check back regularly for updates.
Confused about when school starts? Don't be! The first day of school is Thursday, August 15th for all grades, K-6. It is an early out day for the entire school, so your student will get out at 1:30pm.
Back to School Night will be held August 12 from 4pm to 6pm. This will be a great time to donate supplies to your class, walk the school, find your classroom, and meet your teacher!
If you have an incoming kindergartner, practice these skills to help them when they come to school...using the bathroom independently (wiping themselves, flushing, washing hands & getting dressed), open their lunchbox and food items, recognize their name in print, undo, button up, or tie anything they're wearing, & how to get dressed for winter recess.
Don't forget to come in and register your student if you have not done so! You can stop by any Wednesday from 9-12.
