The annual Yearbook Cover Contest is officially underway, and we want to see your student’s creative artwork! This year’s theme is: "I Have the Magic in Me."✨
Contest Rules & Guidelines:
• Must incorporate the theme "I Have the Magic in Me."
• Must be drawn on a vertical (portrait) 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. Please do not use lined paper. Protect your artwork! Keep it in a folder or manila envelope so it doesn't get wrinkled or torn.
• Use bold, bright colors. Use markers, crayons, or colored pencils. Hand-drawn art only (no digital art or tracing). Fill the page nicely without leaving a blank white background.
• Write the student's full name, grade, and teacher's name clearly in pencil on the back of the artwork (please do not write names on the front).
• Turn all finished artwork into the school office by October 23rd.

Unless the weather is severe, our students generally stay outside before the morning bell rings and during recesses. Fresh air and movement are great for learning, but only when everyone is warm and comfortable!

Please take a few minutes this week to clearly write your student's first and last name on their outerwear (jackets, sweaters, coats) and lunchboxes.
When items are labeled, our team can quickly return wandering belongings straight back to their rightful owner instead of letting them sit in the lost and found! 💙
Tip: A permanent marker on the tag or a waterproof name sticker works wonders.

Here are the details you need to know:

Who is being screened?
Standard Grades: All students in grades K, 1, 3, and 5 will be automatically screened.
Other Grades: If your child is in 2, 4, or 6 grade and you want them screened, please contact your student's teacher directly to arrange it.
Want to opt out? If you do not want your child to participate, opt-out forms are available in the main office.

We have a fun school challenge taking place. We hope every student can memorize our school Mission Statement.
Each Friday, our students who are ready to pass off the memorized Mission Statement will meet with Principal Murdock or Intern Summerhays. The student will receive a certificate and their picture placed on our "Magic in Me" student wall in the cafeteria.
This challenge will run until the Thanksgiving break. Please help your child memorize our Mission Statement:
“At East Layton Elementary, we strive to promote growth and excellence! We help one another become effective communicators, inspired learners, productive workers, responsible citizens, and resourceful and independent thinkers.”
